Catholic education is never lived in isolation. Our identity is strengthened through partnership: with the Diocese that guides and supports us, with neighbouring Catholic schools and colleges who walk alongside us, with a national body that champions Catholic post-16 education, and with Xaverian institutions across the world who share our charism and mission.
Xaverian College is part of the Diocese of Salford – our local Catholic home, serving communities across Greater Manchester and Lancashire. The Diocese is led by Bishop John Arnold, who provides pastoral leadership and guidance across the region.
As a Catholic sixth form college, our sacramental life, parish links and diocesan relationships are all rooted here. Through this connection, we are part of a living Catholic community that seeks to form young people not just academically, but as compassionate, responsible members of society.
The Diocese supports Catholic schools and colleges in living out their identity with integrity – and through its charity arm, Caritas Diocese of Salford, it puts Catholic Social Teaching into practical action every day: responding to homelessness, poverty, isolation and injustice across Greater Manchester.

Xaverian College is part of the Manchester Catholic Education Partnership (MANCEP) – a collaborative network of Catholic secondary schools and sixth form colleges across the city.

Xaverian College is a member of the Association of Catholic Sixth Form Colleges (ACVIC) – a national body representing Catholic sixth form colleges across England and Wales.
ACVIC exists to support, strengthen and advocate for Catholic post-16 education at a pivotal stage in young people’s lives. Catholic sixth form colleges occupy a distinctive place: they accompany young people as they move towards adulthood, supporting independence while remaining rooted in values, community and purpose.

In 1839, Theodore James Ryken founded the Xaverian Brothers in Bruges, Belgium, with a conviction that education could transform lives – not just through academic knowledge, but through the formation of character, faith and a sense of responsibility to others. That vision has been carried across the world ever since.
Wherever the Xaverian Brothers went, they built schools rooted in the same values: respect for every person, education of the whole person, service grounded in justice, and faith lived with openness and hope. Their guiding call – All with God, nothing without God – still shapes Xaverian institutions today.
The Xaverian Brothers are no longer present on staff at this College, but their charism lives on in how we understand our purpose, our values and our responsibility to the students in our care.`
