“One of the things I have enjoyed most about BTEC Business is how supportive and involved the teachers are. You can tell they genuinely want us to do well, and that motivates everyone to put in their best effort. Our lessons explored real business topics and ideas that opened my eyes to different industries and helped me discover what I might want to do in the future. I’ve found the ‘Employment Law’ unit fascinating, looking at cases around employee rights and judges’ rulings and how the outcomes aren’t always what you expect.
As part of our ‘Managing Events’ unit we are working in teams to organise a real event which involves planning, organising, risk assessment and promotion/marketing. Our teams come together to stage a charity event with lots of stalls and my team is going to sell cakes to raise money. We’ve recently been on trips to Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business School, PwC UK, Code Computerlove and Chester Zoo, for talks, tours, careers and insight days and networking with university students. These trips really help us to gain an insight into university courses and industry careers. I’m really looking forward to visiting Barcelona next month as part of the ‘International Business’ unit. We will be visiting the Port Nou Camp Stadium and F1 Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to find out about tourism in the area.”
