Xaverian College held its highly-anticipated annual Film Studies and Media Studies Awards Evening on Tuesday 23rd June, honouring the outstanding achievements and creativity of its talented students. The glitzy event brought students and teachers together to celebrate the College’s young filmmakers and media enthusiasts.

The Awards Evening was the culmination of two-years of hard work and dedication by students studying A Level Film Studies or Media Studies, courses that have long been known for nurturing aspiring Filmmakers, Screenwriters, Producers, Directors, and media professionals, offering a comprehensive education that combines practical experience with theoretical knowledge.

The awards were presented to students in recognition of their talents and achievements in the following award categories:

Film studies students:
• Best Screenplay – Lauren Ayerst
• Best Cinematography – Oscar Davies
• Best Editing – Louis Donnelly
• Best Director – Ace Renshaw
• Best Film – Eve Tuson

Media studies students:
• Media Best Cinematography Video – Edith Atkinson
• Media Best Design Print – Kimberly Takwa
• Media Best Narrative Video – Olivia Hill
• Best Representation – Lilly Bode-Hyacinthe
• Media Best Video – Miyoko Wikierski

One of the standout moments of the evening was the screening of students’ work, which highlighted their excellent storytelling skills, technical finesse, and unique perspectives on a range of themes. From thought-provoking social commentaries to gripping narratives, the work showcased a diverse range of cinematic styles and genres.

Speaking about the Awards Evening, Phil Drinkwater, Curriculum Leader – Film Studies, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments and the dedication of the department. He said: “This evening was a chance to celebrate, not just the hard work and creativity of our students, but also the time they have spent together here at Xaverian.
