Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is at the heart of life at Xaverian.

It is a place where faith is lived - through prayer, service, honest conversation, and care for one another.

Rooted in the Xaverian mission and shaped by the Gospel, chaplaincy is about the whole person – not just what you achieve here, but who you are becoming.

At Xaverian, Chaplaincy is not a programme that runs alongside college life. It is a presence within it.

What matters most

Chaplaincy walks alongside students and staff through the everyday and the unexpected – moments of joy, challenge, change, loss and uncertainty. There is always space to pause, ask questions, be heard, and find your way back to what matters most.

Open to everyone
Chaplaincy is open to everyone. You do not need to be Catholic – just come as you are, with an open mind and a genuine spirit.

The Chapel of Saint Anne

The College Chapel is a space for prayer, worship and stillness – open throughout the day to anyone who needs it. Whether you come for Mass, a moment of quiet, or simply somewhere to sit, you are welcome.

The Chapel is dedicated to Saint Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Xaverian Brothers took over the College on 26 July 1862 – the Feast of Saint Anne – and have had a special devotion to her ever since. During the College’s 150th anniversary year in 2012, the Chapel was formally rededicated to Saint Anne.

The Chapel holds many of the traditional features of a Catholic place of worship: the altar, tabernacle, sanctuary lamp, crucifix, Stations of the Cross, statues of Mary, Saint Anne and Saint Francis Xavier, and stained glass depicting the Annunciation. Each one carries meaning for Catholic prayer and worship, and together they create a space of genuine stillness for the whole College community.

The Chaplaincy Social Area

The Chaplaincy space is somewhere to catch your breath. Come for a chat, a moment of quiet, or just a cup of tea. It is calm, easy to find, and there is always a welcome.
