We use that feedback to shape how we teach, how we support you, and how the College feels day to day.

It’s making a difference. In our most recent survey, 94% of students agreed their learning experience was a positive one, up from 90% just two years before. Here’s what you told us, and what we did about it.

We listen, then we act

Make sure everyone is treated fairly and feels welcome

We did:

We’ve created study spaces in
The Pavilion and Ryken Building, introduced Study Xtras lessons and opened a Revision Club. During exam season, we’ve introduced a Breakfast Club, extended library opening hours, and given every student access to Brainscape, a revision app. We’ve also increased study areas available across the College.

We did: Staff have taken part in training on allyship and inclusion. We’ve redesigned our support spaces to be more welcoming, our Additional Learning Support team has worked hard to be more accessible and now works more proactively with students one-to-one basis. Fair treatment for every student, whatever their background, isn’t a project with an end date. It’s built into every review we do.

Check my learning more often in lessons

We did:

Staff have had focused training on checking understanding as they teach, not just at the end of a topic. We now review this regularly through learning walks, so it stays a genuine priority rather than a one-off fix.

Make lessons more interesting and varied

We did:

We’ve updated courses for example Computer Science and Chemistry to be more relevant and engaging, and staff training has focused on more varied teaching approaches. It’s an area we keep coming back to, because “good enough” can always be improved upon.

Give me the resources I need to succeed

We did:

Our Additional Learning Support team has introduced new assistive technology, including Read&Write software, and run workshops to help students get the most from it. Every subject area now reviews the quality of its resources and builds this into its own improvement plan.

Always improving

We don’t stop asking. All feedback supports the development of next year’s plan, and we follow an iterative process to see what’s working. That’s
why satisfaction has risen every year for the last four years, and why
we’ll keep asking you what needs to change next.
